Kreedam-The Review

I never knew that Thala Ajith had such a big fan base in Karnataka. I woke up on a sunday morning and my room mate suggested a movie outing. I was quite okay with the KREEDAM idea. When I reached the cinema hall did I notice a huge gathering. The movie is quite different from thala's other movies, much better than his previous attempts to be frank. A complete family entertainer with no ajith overacting bull shit which makes the film a "good attempt". All is not well with the movie though, songs which are lacklustre and an abrupt climax. But it was definitely worth for the 20 odd bucks that I had to shell out of my pockets @ local theatre. I was a "SAAMY" when I was watching the movie and had to keep it @ back of my mind.

Overall, a OK family entertainer with no double meaning dialogues, not much of violence and most importantly no overacting by thala.. this is not like thala's other movies where you watch it at your own peril. It was a one time watch movie for people who want to watch a movie with your family.

KREEDAM- Definitely not a BOREDOM! ;)

The SIVAJI Experience

The 'Sivaji' Experience
Watching Sivaji First day was a HELL-raising experience and watching it along with ur dear buddy Manoj is wat I call Icing on the cake.
After so much of hype and high ticket rates, finally managed to get few for a decent amount.
To start with, the movie "Sivaji" doesn't have the greatest of starts with Rajni having a laidback entry and letting vivek hog the limelight. The story is nothing new with a NRI coming back to his home country to start a educational university for the masses, free of course .He faces stiff competition and is even threatened by Suman who also owns a university. Suman believes that Rajini will give him "fierce" competition and he looks suave in his role. "In the cycle gap" Rajini falls for the homely looking shreya(only in the opening scenes) and how he romances her makes up the rest of the story. The chemistry between rajini and shreya is wowing thanks to shankar's special effort on make-up. Vivek has put in a commendable performance. The dark horse who has astounded and amazed audiences is shreya with her hot bod and chic figure . She keeps audience audiences glued to their seats and making them to ask for more. The songs are simply shankar's and has his stamp all over. Finally,Rahman has rediscovered his magic touch with foot tapping if not mind boggling music. Sivaji doesn't have the greatest of screenplays like Thalapathi or Badshaah but Rajini's charisma and style added with his new "LOOK" makes the film a treat for the masses and classes. Sivaji is a Rajini 70 and shankar 30 percent movie. The songs may have shankar's stamp but otherwise this is a complete family entertainer for the "SUPERSTAR" fans. Guyssssss,Sivaji rocks!!

Water-The Review

Water-The Review

I had watched the movie WATER a couple of days back and since then start wondering why such a Fuzz was creating about making the movie in India.

The movie is not “WoW”ing but definitely not bad either . Firstly,We'll have to keep in mind that this is a story which happened Pre-Independence era. The plot revolves around a couple of women struck in a Widow ashram. I was moved by the performance of Seema Biswas who had previously given a bold performance in Bandit Queen. This was a completely different role and she has exceeded all expectations. Another outstanding performance by the appealing little gal who plays widow and the plight that she goes through.

Lisa Ray is a one of the widows who fall for John Abraham(a Gandhian). John Abraham is a guy with Gandhian Principles and who fights for Women empowerment and Indian freedom. The good thing about their romance is that there is no vulgarity and It is portrayed in good light. The little gal has been the lynchpin of the movie and her character has been better portrayed than sketched by the director. The climax is quite good and it does meet expectations to Director's reputed standards. Overall, the film excels in patches but fails to turn the tide in your favor. It has failed to show the zest which the director had shown in 1947-Earth.

The photography is appealing and A.R.Rahman's score is soothing. But,the location clearly doesn't give us any indication about incidents happening on the shore of Ganges,dVaranasi.

One of the main reasons which made me watch Water was not John Abraham or Lisa Ray or A.R.Rahman's music but rather the publicity generated about the movie that it hurts Hindu sentiments and rallies which was done against it. Well, all that looked like crap and clearly indicates that Politicians trying to take advantage of Filmi Janta to seek publicity during Elections. Deepa Mehta seems to be vindicated by her efforts. Movie can be watched once ONLY!! But,I still don't understand how this movie was nominated for Oscars. Strange Though...

The film deserves a modest 3 out of 5

Madras Calling!!

It was friday evening and time for weekend in chennai. "Madras Calling"- 2 wedding and lots of Gals.

Friday evening-After having my mini dinner at Karaikudi mess, started to railway station. Reached station before 2 hours than scheduled departure
(11.45pm). Met Deepak Samuel Thomas who was reading a Novel abt how to Increase attrition rate @ Infosys. After a small discussion,I decided to
give him company @ a restaurant on the station premises. We had some good "Chinky hunt" at the restaurant and also got to watch Indian bowlers
decimate Westindian batsmen,Munaf Patel in particular was a pleasure to watch. India's brilliance on the field reignited my hunger which made me order a veg pulao which I'll remember for a long long time.
Finally, the gr8 one Naveen joined us and time to
board the train. We all had one thing in common,All three of us were from MNM and had come for our Friend Weddings. Finally bidding Sammy goodnite,It was time for some well deserved sleep.

When I woke up,it was MORNING 7-Time for home!!!!

Saturday Morning-
After having my morning discussion with my parents informing the updates only which needed to be told,Picked up my dad's
phone and started forwarding sms stating the arrival of the gr8 one.

Called a few buggards who never picked up the phone, but surprisingly they called back.

Wedding Bells-

Pendul(Magsy) and Haggy called back around the same time and as haggy as always is gud at handling his office resources-Conf call was placed and discussions were gng on when both bridegroom called in for a last minute invitations/. Finally,It was decided that we would attend saturday's
marriage ceremony for Sachin.Jain marriages have lots of customs which are a pleasure to watch.

Haggy was there on time.Myself and pendul joined him when we noticed the
"Ghost Rider" oops "Horse Rider". The sachin we knew was no where nearby the sachin who was on the horse. No Kidding, pakka Mappla madhiri irundhaan.

A pleasant surprise was waiting for us in the form of a bombshell-ASHOK.

The old time friend who was lost almost 2 years back in a job fair exhibition was
found. Ashok was not his usual self, was very quiet and disturbed. But It took some time for Ashok to get into his groove.

Then the procession began with sachin on horse on R.K.salai . It was real fun with people dancing and sum foot tapping hindi music. There Jumped in suresh after a long hiatus. Things started to go even better after suresh arrival.

While Sachin was taming the prancing beast and simultaneuosly maintaining photogenic posture. Cameras started to flicker to capture the mood of
the event,Once in lifetime events. Saturday Nite was time to party and place to be was A.V.M Rajeshwari kalyana mandapam.Magic shows, Dance events, beautiful gals and rocking numbers were the order of the day
while juicy mouth watering menus(Includes my favourite Jelabis) were served on another side.

Senthil the deadly accomplice of suresh came in to the scene and man saturday nite was a nite to remember. Meeting old friends was so much Fun. But, I was missing the company of Ganja and Kali. There were other people who had come in as well like Jaysimman and few other IT fellas.

A phone call on saturday nite from aadhi prompted me to check the marriage schedule with Vijay, who said "Macha, marriage is from 10.30 AM onwards da..."
Also,Vijay's marriage hall was in Ayanavaram and would have taken ages to get back to bus stand in Koyambedu. Considering the pros and cons,It was
planned to go early noon so that I can get back to Sachin's reception and then catch my bus along with aadi @ nite.

Sunday morning-Flurry of phone calls as we had to move on the next wedding of Vijay Baradia. Myself and Pendul finished our Brunch and then started
moving towards ayanavaram after purchasing the gift.We were the early birds as the mandapam was empty and finally got a glimpse of the bride and
bridegrooms thanks to Hitesh Kumbhat and Sripal.

Vijay was smart and trim in his blue color sharwani, which reminded me of Rajini in Chandramukhi. The pair looked like they were made for each other. As we were waiting came along aadi trotting along with his BIG gift.

Joining him later was the 2rg gang-Appus,subby and the loud mouthed J1.It was really nice to see all these gals after a long time,Appu was disappointed as she was expecting to see manoj who didn't turn up till then. Magsy, immediately noticing appu's disappointment sensibly called up manoj to make it
soon. And soon, after manoj's arrival appu's face bloomed like a flower which opens up at starting of spring. Subby on the other hand was quite her quiet
self passing on comments in such a manner which can be heard only by appu.
J1 was unstoppable in her usual self and in full form thanks to Hitesh. And finally came along Rashmy, Rashmy was siding up with J1 and pulling
my leg at every possible instance. Rashmi and J1 presence made the occassion even more special.

It was a Memorable Evening!!
